Afaf Humayun

Communications & Development Coordinator

Afaf Humayun joined MCYJ in early 2020. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan-Dearborn in Humanities and Women and Gender Studies and has experience organizing with grassroots initiatives, as well as with Vista Maria, as a Volunteer Coordinator, and the University of Michigan-Dearborn, as a career counselor. In addition to her work at MCYJ, Afaf runs a Skill and Ability Education program at the Washtenaw County Jail called “Job Skills for Success,” and she serves as a committee member for the Ypsilanti Community Advisory Fund. Additionally, she is an organizer for Narratives of Pain, a storytelling showcase focused on healing through the sharing and witnessing of stories and art; and has written for  Concentrate, The Arab American News, and HuffPost.
